Healthcare Career Training

At Cypress Medical, we offer two pathways which provide hands-on ultrasound training. The first is offered to licensed medical professionals seeking an accelerated training through our point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) lab. Training in these labs are completed in 1-3 days to refine ultrasound scanning skills. Licensed Medical professionals obtain applicable knowledge in the modality of choice* to use in their private practice, clinic, or hospital.

The second path is a condensed 14-month or 20-month ultrasound program that individuals enroll in to obtain eligiblity for licensure in ultrasound upon completion. This program is a combination of lectures, hands-on training, and internships at various hospitals. Our participants are transformed into successful medical professionals that are highly proficient in diagnostic medical sonography.

Participants registered in either pathway receive instruction and hands-on training from highly qualified instructors. At Cypress Medical, we specialize in developing individuals as a whole in this allied profession.

Why Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound)

Becoming a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (aka Sonographer, Ultrasonographer, or Ultrasound Technician), is a rewarding career that demonstrates an integral role in healthcare. As a sonographer, you serve as the window into the human body. Sonographers take images of internal organs with an ultrasound machine which helps physicians make crucial diagnosis for patients.

Employment can be in hospitals, clinics, outpatient centers, and physician offices. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the job outlook for this profession will increase by 19% between 2020 and 2030. In addition, the median salary is $84,470* according to www.bls.gov and higher depending on experience and geographical location. An Orange Question Mark

What Is POCUS?

POCUS is an acronym which stands for Point-Of-Care Ultrasound. It describes the use of ultrasound at the patients’ bedside for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. POCUS is usually performed by a physician for immediate interpretation of images to make critical decisions instantly. POCUS is ideal for emergency situations that rule out intraperitoneal hemorrhage and pleural effusions for example. However, it can be used in various situations like evaluating cholelithiasis, viability, and palpable structures to name a few.

POCUS will not replace traditional ultrasound exams but it helps medical practioners assess a specific part of the body to answer a specific question immediately for a quicker diagnosis. Medical professionals who learn POCUS with Cypress Medical will reshape their clinical practice in a unique way.

Whether you are a resident, doctor, nurse, mammographer, or even a sonographer looking to refine their skills, in just a few days, in a stress-free environment, you can learn specific skills for your clinical application. *** POCUS training is in-person and for licensed medical professionals (MD, RN, NP, Mammographers, RDMS, residents and medical students) only.
